On the morning of April 21, 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy at LHU hosted a session introducing the “Clinical Pharmacy Training and Practice” program offered by the University of Illinois Chicago (USA), aiming to update modern training trends and expand academic and professional development opportunities for pharmacy students amid global integration.
Attending the program, from LHU were Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, Vice Rector, along with leaders and faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Representing the partner institution, the University was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Alan Lau, Director of International Clinical Pharmacy Education at the College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois Chicago.
A key highlight of the session was the in-depth presentation delivered by Professor Lau. With his extensive experience in clinical pharmacy education and practice in the U.S., he provided a comprehensive overview of clinical pharmacy training models, hospital-based practice, as well as summer programs, short-term courses, and professional development opportunities available to students and faculty members. These insights not only offered academic value but also helped learners better envision potential career pathways in the pharmaceutical field.
Vice Rector Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh emphasized that connecting with advanced clinical pharmacy training programs from the U.S. enables both faculty and students to update their professional knowledge while gaining exposure to internationally standardized learning and practice environments. She noted that such collaboration aligns with the University’s strategic direction to enhance training quality and strengthen the global integration capacity of pharmacy students.
During the interactive discussion session, participants further explored opportunities to join international programs, competency requirements, and possibilities for networking within the global community of pharmacists.
