LHU Is the Earliest Institution to Establish an Entrepreneurship Club in Dong Nai Province.

Recently, at the Dong Nai Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival 2023 (Techfest DongNai 2023), held on 21 April 2023, the Organizing Committee introduced the Entrepreneurship Club of Lac Hong University, established in 2016, together with the Entrepreneurship Club of Eastern International University, established in 2021, and the Entrepreneurship Club of Dong Nai University, established at the end of 2022.

In 2015, the Rector of Lac Hong University directed the University’s academic staff to help students identify new directions in the context of limited employment opportunities after graduation. This directive laid the foundation for the development of the University’s entrepreneurship programme. The University’s entrepreneurship ecosystem was gradually formed. Entrepreneurship competitions were organized along with seminars featuring startup enterprises, under the orientation of the National Entrepreneurship Programme organized by Business Forum Magazine (under VCCI).

In 2016, the University leadership issued a decision to establish the Entrepreneurship Club. In 2017, the University invested in a Coworking Space at Campus 2, fully equipped to support student business incubation. At present, PhD Lam Thanh Hien – the University’s Rector – pays close attention to and strongly promotes the University’s entrepreneurship programme.

Each year, the University allocates funding to invest in startup projects. The annual KPI assigned by the Rector to the team managing the University’s entrepreneurship programme requires that at least one project reach the National Final Round of the “SV-STARTUP” startup competition for pupils and students organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The entrepreneurship ecosystem of Lac Hong University has been fully established (including the Entrepreneurship Club, Coworking Space, mentor system, and modern laboratories), with members actively participating in provincial, regional, and national entrepreneurship communities (Vietnam Startup Mentors Alliance – VSMA; Southern Region Startup Advisory and Support Council; Dong Nai Province Startup Ecosystem Coordination Council; Creative Design Thinking Village of Techfest Vietnam, etc.). This has effectively supported the consultation, assistance, training, and resource connection for students with startup ideas.

At Lac Hong University, the unit responsible for educating and implementing the entrepreneurship programme under Project 1665 operates through the Ministry of Education and Training. Each year, student startup projects participate in competitions both within and outside the province, particularly the annual SV-STARTUP competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. It can be said that through training and supporting student entrepreneurship, the University has achieved significant accomplishments in recent years, most recently winning 01 Third Prize and 01 Consolation Prize at SV-STARTUP 2023. This is a major platform for student entrepreneurs, helping them develop a different mindset while still at university – a self-reliant and entrepreneurial mindset.
