Established in July 2005 and operational since April 8, 2006, the LHU Dormitory is a hallmark of the university’s commitment to sustainable development and student well-being. Located on the third campus of LHU, this five-storey building spans 4,000 m2 and accommodates nearly 500 students. Its design and amenities reflect the university’s focus on fostering a safe, inclusive, and resource-efficient living environment.
Infrastructure and Amenities
The dormitory houses 83 self-contained rooms designed for optimal student living, alongside seven functional offices for administrative and support services. Each room, measuring over 30 m2, accommodates three to six students and is fully furnished with essential amenities, including air conditioners, lighting, fans, desks, chairs, personal lockers, beds, and hot water systems. Rooms for boys and girls are separated to ensure privacy and comfort.
To enhance the quality of student life, the dormitory provides additional utilities such as vending machines, laundry rooms, a canteen, free drinking water systems, and high-speed wifi. Safety is prioritized with fire prevention systems and emergency response services, ensuring a secure living environment for all residents.
Recreational and Community Activities
Beyond accommodations, LHU’s dormitory enriches student life through cultural and recreational activities. A 150 m2 hall serves as a hub for artistic events, group study sessions, sports, and meetings. Collaborating with the Youth Union - Student Association, the dormitory organizes various events such as karaoke competitions, football and volleyball matches, cooking contests, and Tet celebrations for international students from Laos and Cambodia. These activities foster cultural exchange and community bonding.
The dormitory also supports the establishment of student groups and clubs, providing opportunities for students to develop interpersonal skills, build friendships, and support each other academically and socially. These initiatives encourage active participation, confidence, and a sense of belonging among students.
Sustainability and Accessibility
Located near essential facilities such as a fully-equipped gym, a canteen, and recreational grounds, the dormitory emphasizes convenience and sustainability. Large parking lots accommodate 400–500 motorbikes or bicycles, promoting eco-friendly transportation options. The dormitory’s infrastructure and services are designed to reduce energy consumption and enhance resource efficiency, aligning with sustainable development principles.
LHU’s dormitory exemplifies the university’s commitment to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 4: Quality Education by providing safe, inclusive, and well-equipped accommodations. Through fostering cultural, educational, and recreational activities, LHU creates an enriching environment that promotes well-being, inclusivity, and sustainability. These efforts align with the university’s vision to contribute to global goals and enhance its impact on society.
